Hi! My name is Magico Martinez. I am a dedicated 23-year-old member of the Woodcraft Folk from Brighton.

I really enjoy working with venturers and truly believe that with my previous experience I could help organise the most successful Venturer Camp yet.

My experience in organising camps is limited, however I have been part of the board in charge of organising International Camp 2011 for over a year. I believe that the link that I would create between IC11 and VCamp 2010 would be key in the organisation of a successful and enjoyable camp.

For the last few months I have been part of a small group running the consultation process for VCamp 2010, and therefore I understand what venturers and the rest of the movement expect from this camp.

This will be the third VCamp I have been involved with. Working as member of Mestup team in the previous camp taught me how to listen and connect with venturers and how to react to varying situations, both skills are key in this role.

I am also part of General Council, where I participate in the decisions that affect the entire of The Woodcraft Folk. This has not only taught me how to act responsibly to the benefit of the organisation, but has also let me understand our movement and our volunteers in great depth.

Furthermore, I used to help run a group of young pioneers in Blackheat (Greenwich), where I greatly enjoy meeting them and organising activities on a weekly basis.

I think the idea of having a group of coordinators with mixed experience will bring a lot to the camp and think this would be more beneficial to all involved, I look forward to working with them.

  • Overall responsible for coordinating the Central Team and the Steering committee
  • Reports to the steering committee and has experience in working with steering committees in the Woodcraft Folk
  • Is committed to participation of Ventrers in the design and delivery of the camp
  • Understands Ventrers and is a liaison between Venturers, Ventrer leaders and DFs.
  • External spokes person for the camp before and after the event.
  • With the Administrator and the Production Manager coordinates relations with the site.
  • With the Administrator is part of the disputes resolution process
