Right to Refuge campaign

Bring a small group of young refugees or asylum seekers to Venturer Camp with Woodcraft’s Right to Refuge campaign.

The TREE programme is offering Venturer groups the chance to bring a small group of young refugees or asylum seekers to VCamp this year, as part of Woodcraft’s Right to Refuge campaign.

We’ve paid for the places, so it’s a brilliant opportunity to make links with your local refugee or asylum seeker community, get to know them and bring them to Woodcraft’s most awesome camp this year.

If your group is interested, get in touch with Chloƫ as soon as possible, at chloe.darlington@woodcraft.org.uk.

As you have probably noticed, the website has changed quite a lot. Branding is one of the new aspects that we wanted to take on with Venturer Camp 2010. We now have a logo and a defined brand.

We also want you to know about the camp before you get there. That is why we will be posting news related to all our centres here. At the moment you can only see 3 centres in the right sidebar, but we will be adding more and more in the next few days.

Please bear in mind that we are still working on site, so many features will not work for a few days. Everything should be working 100% in about a week.

However, we would love to know what you think about all this. The best way to have your say is by emailing vcamp@woodcraft.org.uk or just leaving a comment below. That simple.

Blue skies!

The Woodcraft’s triannual Venturer Camp is brought froward to make room for the Intentional Camp held in 2011.

The Camp will be a festival for under 1000 young people from across the UK and grater momentum for looking forward in to the world that we want to see.

“The camp is a unique opportunity for our Venturers to come together and explore ideas whilst having fun” said Lloyd Russell-Moyle one of the camp conveners.

“Venturers at the meeting early in 2009 decided to have the theme Futures – Fashioning a new world, and a programme will be developed around that theme ready for 2010″

The camp is run by and for young people and the programme will be designed by young people and Venturers themselves.

Lloyd explains “though workshops, websites and facebook groups Venturers themselves will decided what they want in their camp, from the theme nights to the educational programme this is participatory education for social change”

There was a workshop at the Annual Gathering as well as a detailed session held across the country. The project is expected to included a dedicated team of Venturers to lead the camp who will “appoint” the positions in the camp.

If you want to get involved then email either vcamp@woodcraft.org.uk or join the email group at vcamp2010@googlegroups.com

Hi everyone!

As you have probably noticed (unless this is your first time here) we have a new site! It is really exciting to reveal this new design, with hundreds of new functionalities. Let’s name some of them.

Did you have a look at the pictures? Yes, that is right. Now we have a pool in flickr that will display all images in this website. Anyone can upload pictures to the pool, so come on! Now, please remember that we will only accept pictures from previous Venturer camps in the pool, do not try to upload anything else…
If for any reason you want to access the previous design, you can! We weren’t gonna delete anything, of course. Just go to the VCamp08 site and you’ll find everything like it was…

Ok guys, please remember that we will be changing some stuff around in the next few days, so do not scare if suddenly everything fails (hopefully this won’t happen…). And come back soon. We have just started!
